It is the second waterfall in Goa after the Dudhsagar that lies on the Karnataka and Goa border. The Arvalem Waterfall, Goa is virtually 20 four feet high. A myth declares that the force in which the water gushes down from an elevation is same to the Lord Rudra Deva's avatar.

One of the busiest tourist sites, this waterfall is found about nine kilometres from the Bicholim town. The most interesting aspect of this waterfall is the Rudreshwar temple which is located close to the waterfalls. The Aravelem Waterfalls in Goa are found right adjacent this temple and as one walks out of the temple and climbs down its stairs. The water body provides a full view to those desiring to observe eye catching beauty.

Like any other waterfall the best time to truly scenery this waterfall in full swing is in the monsoons. During monsoons, the water gushes down with full momentum giving the waterfalls a scintillating look. For one who wants to explore the Arvalem waterfalls, they can proceed to visit the Aravelem caves found nearby. These rock-cut caves date back to the 5th century. They are also famous as the "Pandava caves" after the five Pandava brothers. To reach the Arvalem waterfalls, you can hire omnibuses from Mapusa that will take you right away to the Sanquelim village. From there you can avail motorbikes or taxis to arrive at the waterfall.

Along with expanding the tourism, the Goa government has intensified its efforts to construct a comfort zone for the visitors who come to visit the Arvalem waterfalls in Goa. The government has come up with a plan to set up holiday resorts around the falls for the visitors.
